MORE NIGHTS LIKE THAT...

Seth Walker at Sam's Burger Joint, March 15, 2013

I first wrote about Seth Walker in the summer of 2011, shortly after I started this blog. I had fallen in love with his song, “2’ left to the ceiling,” and was thrilled to finally be able to see him in person.

The song is a powerful ballad that deals with the desperation of Hurricane Katrina, and it was especially poignant for me since I had lived on the Florida Gulf Coast. While it was that song that drew me to Seth’s music, my appreciation didn’t stop there.

I’ve seen him at least five times since that first night at Sam’s Burger Joint, and his songwriting has only gotten better. He hasn’t sat back on his laurels, and instead he’s reached even deeper within himself for his latest work, “Time Can Change.” Even the cover of the CD – an extreme close-up of Seth’s face – is an indication of how personal this compilation is.

For about the next five weeks, Seth will be touring with the recently reunited Mavericks. If you’re anywhere near one of their shows, you owe it to yourself to go see them. I can’t think of a better way to spend an evening than with master songwriters Seth Walker and Raul Malo.

Let Seth know the Groovy Gringa sent you.
